This diptych is a summary of a seven-day cruise through the western Mediterranean. The two videos were shot on the first and last days spent aboard one of those massive cruise liners, the very embodiment of savage capitalism. On this closed-circuit voyage, travellers end up back where they began, the port of Civitavecchia, doing justice to the etymology of the word “tourism”: tour, tournée, circle, infinite loop.

Though hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, holiday cruises have bounced back and returned to our ports as if nothing ever happened, happily broadcasting their favourite slogan once more: “Feel free”.
